Alternative
coffins

THIS section is intended to be of
assistance to those people who may
not wish to organise a traditional
style funeral.
There are aspects of
the organisation of a funeral which
can be carried out by members of the
deceased’s family – for
example the removal from the place
of death – family bearers carrying
the coffin – use of a family
estate car instead of a traditional
hearse etc.
There is also discussion
about willow
or cardboard
coffins, ecopods,
‘green’ funerals and woodland
burials. Some thoughts
are detailed below which may be helpful
in deciding the type of funeral to
be organised.

BAMBOO Eco Coffins have been designed
as an attractive, environmentally
friendly option for a funeral.
Made in China from bamboo grown and
cropped in sustainable plantations,
these Eco coffins have also been tested
and approved for cremation. |

Cardboard
coffins
CARDBOARD coffins outer shell, inner
and lid are all in recycled cardboard.
They have a unique locking system
which makes them very strong and sturdy.
They will hold up to 20 stone (127kg)
in weight and the standard will accommodate
up to 6’ 1” (165cm) in
height.
A special, catering for up to 6’
7” (200cm) in height is available
on request.
The coffins are available in wood
grain, marble or White.
These can be decorated, if requested.
